In the production of light burned dolomite, the choice of kiln type directly determines energy consumption and production costs. The lime vertical kiln, with its structural advantage of countercurrent heat exchange, has become an economical solution for the calcination of light burned dolomite, with lower comprehensive consumption compared to other kiln types.

The lime vertical kiln is divided from top to bottom into preheating zone, calcination zone, and cooling zone. The block shaped dolomite slowly moves downwards by gravity, and the high-temperature flue gas flows upwards. The raw materials are preheated by the flue gas in the kiln, and the heat is transferred to the combustion air when the finished product is discharged. The waste heat is fully recovered, greatly reducing fuel waste.

The ideal calcination range for lightly burned dolomite is 900 to 1050 degrees Celsius, and the lime vertical kiln can stably maintain this temperature range, reducing the problems of over burning and raw burning. The product has more stable activity, avoiding raw material waste caused by uneven calcination and reducing rework losses.

The investment in lime vertical kiln equipment is lower, the supporting system is simple, the installed capacity of fans and conveying equipment is small, and the electricity consumption per ton of product is significantly reduced. At the same time, the insulation structure of the kiln body is complete, the heat loss of the outer wall is small, and it can also be adapted to low calorific value fuels such as blast furnace gas, further reducing the cost of fuel procurement.

The production of light burned dolomite using a lime vertical kiln has resulted in a simultaneous decrease in fuel, electricity, and maintenance costs. On the premise of ensuring that product indicators meet the needs of the metallurgical and refractory industries, long-term production with outstanding economic efficiency is the preferred route for reducing costs and increasing efficiency in small and medium-sized light burned dolomite projects.
